Frequently asked questions from HiQ

We have compiled a list of the most commonly asked questions we receive from our customers about their car maintenance.

How do I  know what tyre I need?

Your tyre has a series of numbers and letters on the sidewall that tell us its size and specifications. This helps us identify the correct tyre for your vehicle. Simply enter your tyre size and choose the level of tyre that best suits your needs.

Not sure which tyre is right for you? No problem! Our team can help you choose the right option in store, or we can talk you through it over the phone to make sure you get the perfect fit.

How do I  know my tyre needs changing?

How do I know when my tyres need changing?

There are a few signs that your tyres may need replacing. Look out for worn tread, cracks in the rubber, bulges in the sidewall, or repeated loss of tyre pressure. You may also notice reduced grip, longer stopping distances or vibrations while driving.

In the UK, the legal minimum tread depth is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre, around its entire circumference. However, it's worth considering replacing your tyres before they reach this limit, particularly if you regularly drive in wet conditions.

Not sure if your tyres are safe? Pop in and see our team. We'll be happy to check your tyres and advise you on whether they need replacing, so you can drive away with confidence.

How often should I check my tyre pressure?

We recommend checking your tyre pressure at least once a month and before any long journey. Driving with incorrect tyre pressure can affect your fuel efficiency, handling and tyre lifespan. You can find the recommended pressure for your vehicle in your owner's manual or on a sticker inside the driver's door.
